profiling

I have a little problem with commitment. That's why I never got a tattoo. To illustrate: my photo, which I claimed would be the perfect tattoo, has been replaced by a 1950's sewing pattern.

The Chinese character was a little too pretentious. I'm all about pretentious, but the character was too non-self-mockingly pretentious for me. I like pretentious things like mah jong, which I've never played but by golly I'm getting a mah jong group together some winter.

Would you like to come play mah jong? I'll start researching 1950's appetizers. Like Vienna Sausages with frilly toothpicks.

I don't even know what Mah Jong (sp?) is, but you can count me in! If it's winter we'll need warm spiced wine and only the finest in ear muffs and mittens. (I'm envisioning outdoors action, did I mention my Mah Jong naivete?)

Okay, so I'm an idiot. Mah Jong is a board game. I was picturing something kinda like croquet, but froofier. Scratch the ear muffs and mittens. We should celebrate the games ancient Chinese roots and play in silk robes, drinking really yucky herbal tea that is wonderfully healthy and occasionally having someone hit a gong (where's Weird Al these days?). Definitely burn incense. Maybe a jade color scheme? I give up.

OK-I'll try again-my original comment seems to be lost in space. I'm sure it's something I did. I have an on-going love affair with finger foods and appetizers from the 50's. Always have. Something about the color and mixture of strange food groups. Keep in mind I'm moving to your area soon-available for parties-local references upon request. James-I like the outdoor party theme-because I love ear muffs.

If you're going to have food with frilly toothpicks you'll want something like Martinis with those little plastic swords to hold the olives or if you want to go another way Fog-Cutters with the little umbrellas or are they parasols.Either way after a few of either libation rules for the game won't matter much.

James - I don't know what Mah Jong is either. I just want to be able to say, "oh I'd love to darling, but tonight is Mah Jong." I think it involves drinks with smashed cherries in the bottom of the glass.

Bella - I used to love Vienna Sausages too, although the thought of them now makes me a bit queasy. The famous jello would be a perfect addition. Please come.

Kathy - I share your love affair with finger foods and appetizers, but am far less selective and am happy in many decades. Welcome to the neighborhood!

Jabel - parasols, definitely parasols. I don't know any of the rules, except our house rule that swallowing the tiles is strictly prohibited.

Do you want your jello mold back? I love mah jong on the computer - can I come play with you? Eewkk on the vienna snausages. Not even this carnivore will touch those. Now swedish meatballs are another story...
